What an exciting time we have had developing our school vision!

In our assemblies Mrs Morris has been talking about what sort of school we would like Castledown to be. Once she even brought in a cake mix to show how our school is like a cake - mostly the same ingredients but with something added that makes it special. We want to have a school to be proud of.A school that has that extra special ingredient. Our favourite was chocolate!

In our year groups we discussed our ideas for Castledown. We then developed these into a performance to show the rest of the school. Some classes danced, some sang, there was poetry, paintings and even skipping games to display our thoughts and ideas.

Some of our work is on display in the small hall. It would be great if you could come and look at the children's ideas and hard work.

Here are some of the children's thoughts on what they
would like for Castledown.

In Early years and Key Stage One children drew pictures, sang songs about what they would like to see at School. Some children even danced their Vision!

These pictures show good friendships, fun environments and happy children.

In Key Stage Two pupils had written poems and skipping chants and had also made a book of wishes.

These children had written their own acrostic poem, thinking of words that represent the school Vision. This is also displayed in the school hall.

These are some of the main ideas that the children had for Castledown:

.

Respect for each other. Good friendships. Caring.

Taking turns. Valuing opinions. Pupil voice

Bright, stimulating classrooms. Better dinners!

Nice toilets! Lovely playground. Safe and secure environment.

Exciting activities. More laptops. Interesting visitors.

Trips out of school.

What do you think about our ideas for the School Vision?

Do you have any ideas that you would like to share with us?

You could:

  • add any comments to the message board.
  • send them in with your child to the class teacher.
  • hand them into the office.
  • or e-mail them to the school at office@castledown.e-sussex.sch.uk

Having a blog is a fantastic idea, and it's great to see that the children are participating in it too.
It's nice to have an idea of what goes during assemblies, as us parents only ever get a rather garbled version! :-)
